Upper West - Common Ground

Common Ground [Click to Download]

After the release of their debut mixtape West Side Stories, Upper West is back at it with this new single. You'd think that 25,000 downloads of a mixtape would give them some breathing room before putting out more music, but not even 4 months later they're back at making music. Not to mention Doug's feature on Spring; a track with the very talented Reef of Fortune Family and the amazing vocalist Melody Noel.

Common Ground shows the passion in the verses, especially in flow of the second verse. I think that Doug (on the verses) sounds a lot different, but in a good way. The beat for Common Ground is a dramatic synth beat and really keeps the song bouncing. Upper West has classified themselves as New Age Hip-Pop; although I'm not entirely sure what that entails, I'm really excited to see where they take it and how far they can really go. This song is just a single, but hopefully they have more projects like this one in the works.
